Introduction
One can work on this feature by enabling account backups and the Retain Backups in the Default Backup Directory setting in WHM’s Backup Configuration interface (WHM >> Home >> Backup >> Backup Configuration).
Also, the WHM’s Backup Configuration interface, that is, (Home >> Backup >> Backup Configuration) helps one and their users in storing backup files in locations configured with the Additional Destinations option. The destinations included are, namely: Amazon S3™, FTP, Google Drive™, S3 Compatible, SFTP, WebDAV, A local directory, Custom locations.
In order to restore backups from these locations mentioned above, users should transfer the backup file without fail to their servers way before their restoring of the backup.
How to Transfer the Backup File?
Importantly it should be kept in mind in manually transferring the backup files from the remote location to one’s server. After transferring the backup files to the server, handling of the actual restoration lies with the WHM’s Backup Restoration feature (WHM >> Home >> Backup >> Backup Restoration).
Steps:
- Firstly, one needs to use his/her preferred tool in accessing the additional destination created with the Additional Destinations option, available in WHM’s Backup Configuration interface (WHM >> Home >> Backup >> Backup Configuration). Like, one can make a use of an FTP client to access an FTP destination.
- Then, one needs to locate one’s desired backup files and then transfer them to the local computer.
- To complete the procedure, one has to finally place the backup files in the desired backup directory on one’s server.
It is to note that the backup directories available on one’s server resembles the BACKUPDIR/date/accounts format. This is a variable from the /var/cpanel/backups/config file.
Also, the date feature uses a yyyy-mm-dd format, where yyyy refers the four-digit year, mm refers the month, and dd refers the day of the month.
WHM’s Backup Restoration interface thereafter will display the backup files underneath the appropriate account and date.
