Due to policy changes done by NIXI set by Verisign, there will be an domain price increase for .IN and 3rd level .in domains. The price revision is applicable from August 31, 2025.
We have made a slight increase of ₹20 per year in the pricing of the .in TLD, and the new price for this TLD is ₹720 per year excluding the tax
Why This Change?
The price revision comes after a period of three years without any changes, during which there has been a substantial rise in:
● Increased infrastructure and cybersecurity costs
● Investments in KYC/e-KYC, and abuse mitigation deploying AI based solutions
● Development of multilingual domain capabilities and vernacular outreach
● Funding strategic programs under Digital India and MSME enablement
● Improving market competitiveness
● Strategic Investments & funding capacity building initiatives
Despite the increase, .IN domains will remain among the most affordable country-code TLDs globally, offering high value and trust to Indian users and businesses.
So we request you to renew the domains in advance before 31st August 2025 to take the advantage of this price hike. Also at Hostmalabar we have extended the renewal price increase till 15th September 2025. So please do your renewals immediately.
POLICY CHANGES for IN domains
Key Update: Mandatory e-KYC for .IN Registrants
Effective from 1st August 2025, all registrants of .IN domain names will be required to complete an e-KYC verification process to successfully register or renew a .IN domain.
This e-KYC process is being facilitated using DigiLocker, a secure digital document verification system launched by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) under the Digital India initiative.
.IN Registrations Limited to Indian Registrants
.IN domain registrations will now be restricted to individuals or organizations based in India. Non-Indian entities will no longer be able to register .IN domain names.
What You Need To Do
If you or your customers wish to register or renew a .IN domain, please ensure the following:
● Valid Indian identity documents must be submitted via the e-KYC process.
● The e-KYC link and instructions will be shared during the domain registration workflow.
● Incomplete or failed KYC submissions may result in delayed or unsuccessful domain registration.
