Domain name privacy protection is a great add-on that represents fantastic value to your customers as it helps them secure their personal data. We launched the feature to enable you to charge for domain name Privacy Protection back in 2014 and have seen significant uptake in the use of the feature as well as the privacy service since. Today, most players in the Indian market charge an average of Rs. 350 per domain per year.

We at Hostmalabar have borne the costs of this service till date but owing to the increase in the cost of compliance and other costs related to domain names, we will be charging an annual fee of ₹200 per domain. This change will come into effect on 24th May 2017. While most providers charge as high as ₹499 per year, you can offer privacy protect as a paid service and still remain competitive in the market!

How it works:

Your selling price for privacy protect will automatically be updated to ensure you do not make a loss. In case you wish to change prices, you can do so post 15th May 2017
Domain names that are already registered and use Privacy Protect service
No charge shall be levied till the domain name expires, or until the next renewal, whichever is earlier. At the time of renewal of the domain name, you will have the flexibility of not renewing Privacy Protect along with the domain name
For domains names that are already registered and do not use Privacy Protect service
Upon activation of this service, charges shall be applied on a pro-rata basis till the domain expires
For any new domain registrations opting for Privacy Protection service
Above mentioned annual charges will be applicable
The duration of this service will be the same as the duration of the domain name it is associated with
